Schifffahrt | Shipping ,000 ,800 ,600 Benelux registries – so close, yet different Dutch Flagged Fleet Age Profile Around two thirds of all ships flying the Dutch flag belong to the small dry segment, followed by Offshore Supply Vessels (OSV) and tankers. Due to their high value, Offshore Construction Vessels (OCV) rank second despite their small number. Oil tankers in particular sail under the Belgian flag. In comparison, the LNG tanker fleet is only one third (nine ships) the size but their value is almost the same as that of the oil tanker fleet. Offshore Construction Vessels account for the highest value in the Luxembourg register. With the same number (12 units), the tankers only account for one third of that value. It is noteworthy that the Offshore Supply Vessel segment is worth considerably less despite its number of 47 units in the registry. The Dutch register is mainly used by Dutch shipowners, with Swedish and German owners following far behind. Likewise, the Belgian flag is mainly used for ships of Belgian owners, some US-American, Dutch and Greek shipowners also use the flag for their vessels. The Luxembourg flag on the other hand is a different kind of animal.
