TECH-INNOVATION POWERED

TECH-INNOVATION POWERED BY VDMA - MARINE EQUIPMENT AND SYSTEMS AQUAMETRO Diesel Switch retrofit successfully commissioned for NYK Fuel switching and blending system »Diesel Switch« »Lilac Promenade«, LPG Tanker managed by NYK Shipmanagement © Aquametro Aquametro Oil & Marine has successfully commissioned its Diesel Switch change-over system onboard »Lilac Promenade« for NYK Shipmanagement. The NYK Line company assigned AOM with the installation of its Diesel Switch change-over system. »The installation and commissioning was completed well within two days thanks to the great cooperation between the crew onboard and AOM’s technical team, led by John Zhuang«, the partners announced. The system will be used to switch over from MGO to HFO fuel and vice versa. As the Diesel Switch fully automatically controls the change-over and blending process on board the vessel it helps to increase safety in ship operation and to give charters secured forecasts on performance. »Lilac Promenade« is a 3 year old LPG Tanker that is owned by Smile Shipholding and managed by NYK Shipmanagement. established in 2001 and headquartered in Singapore. It has 200+ vessels under technical and crewing management including car carriers, dry bulker, containers, Tankers and Gas Carriers. »We would like to thank its good client NYK Shipmanagement for the exceptionally great collaboration on this project as well as for the great positive feedback they gave after the project was completed«, AOM said. »We greatly appreciate your cooperation and professional approach. Your continuous prompt support and feedback was very crucial in successful installation/commissioning of the Diesel switch. Thanks a lot«, added Vessel Manager Rochit Das. Simultaneously NYK is using AOM Diesel Switch on their newbuild LPGC program in Japan. Installation and pre-commissioning have been done by AOM engineer David Kim. Sea trials are scheduled for August. Since 1928, Aquametro Oil & Marine is active as manufacturers and suppliers of measurement, optimization and monitoring solutions. The range consists of more than 100 different oil fuel meters and management systems. The company operates from its headquarters in Rostock/Germany and Therwil/Switzerland as well as from Singapore for the Asian market. In addition there are further subsidiaries in South Korea and China and representation offices in India and Japan plus a global service network and numerous sales partners globally. 34 HANSA – International Maritime Journal 10 | 2022

TECH-INNOVATION POWERED BY VDMA - MARINE EQUIPMENT AND SYSTEMS BOLL & KIRCH World premiere of Bollfilters’s new FineFilterUnit FFU During the international ship technology exhibition and trade show SMM, Boll & Kirch has launched its brand-new FFU design for the treatment of bleed-off water from Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems (EGCS, hybrid or closed loop) and Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) / Exhaust Gas Cooling (EGC) Systems. »The new design is based on Bollfilters’s application expertise and underlines their market leadership with the most systems supplied to EGCSand Engine-manufacturers since 2018«, the supplier announced. Several improvements have been realized to optimize the benefits for the customer and operator: • Process improvement: Modified components for improved process control and more efficient process operation resulting in lower operational costs. • Modularity: A new and flexible design for different flow rates. • Compactness: Minimum space requirements and optimized arrangement, incl. improved maintainability. • User friendliness: Simplification of interaction and operation by smart control features. • Compliance: Treatment of bleed-off water with ceramic membranes delivers still safe and continuous compliance with the discharge requirements of MARPOL Annex VI, resolutions MEPC.340(77) / 307(73) and enhances marine environmental protection. Boll & Kirch is a solution provider for sustainable water treatment systems. As Bollfilter is developing, producing, and utilizing its own ceramic membranes (BOLLbrane) in addition to its own R&D-, engineering-, testing- and production capabilities, they claim to have the knowhow about the core component of the system and can offer the best process solution, also for other applications i.e., CCUS (Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage). © Wroblewski MTP-STANDARD Plug-event takes the new standard for ship automation »a giant step forward« The MTP (Module Type Package) is used for the standardised integration of subsystems in ship automation. The first Plugtest on the new standard was organised by the VDMA in August. 12 companies from Germany and Austria took part in the intensive and successful connectivity tests, from machine builders and automation manufacturers to shipyards and classification. The encouraging plug test results were also presented at the »Digital Transition Stage« at the trade fair SMM: »In those 8 hours, we implemented such a quantity of variables and signals with the MTP, for which we previously needed three weeks on board at the shipyard. A huge step forward in shortening commissioning – and a convincing argument for the MTP!«, said an industry participant. Those who want to learn more about MTP can do so on 13th October at the MTP-Info-day at Meyer Werft in Papenburg.
