SMM Armacell, Münster

SMM Armacell, Münster Armacell’s thermal and acoustic insulation systems are said to reduce energy costs while improving energy efficiency, safety, and comfort for crew and passengers. »ArmaFlex Ultima sets a new safety standard in technical insulation by mitigating fire and smoke risks and improving visibility and respiration in the event of a fire«, the company says. Based on the patented ArmaPrene technology, it exhibits 10 times less smoke than a standard elastomeric foam, thus extending the time to evacuate in the event of a fire Its excellent insulation properties and high resistance to water vapour diffusion ensure reliable condensation control and long-term energy savings. This also minimises the risk of corrosion under insulation (CUI) and reduces the risk of costs associated with downtime. Further innovative solutions include the ArmaFix pipe support to eliminate the risk of thermal bridges, ArmaFlex Protect for sealing off pipe penetrations in A-class divisions and B-class bulkheads, and the 2-in-1 Arma-Chek Juna which was specifically developed for the protection of beverage lines. By using the ArmaFlex System Warranty, certified installers can benefit from a warranty of up to 10 years. Known for its insulation materials, Armacell now also offers acoustic solutions, for example ArmaComfort Barrier P. This highperformance mass-loaded sound barrier »guarantees a quieter environment on ships, offering exceptional sound transmission loss properties across a broad frequency range with super-thin wall thicknesses and high fire performance«, Armacell says. Its lightweight, closed-cell insulation materials have been installed on all types of ships for more than 40 years reliably preventing condensation and energy losses on mechanical equipment. During SMM, the company presents its latest range of marine engines: The 8F21 engine features an 8-cylinder configuration, »compact design and exceptional performance«. It incorporates the latest common-rail technology and a high-end fuel injection system capable of achieving pressures of up to 2200 bar, ensuring compliance with the most stringent emission regulations, while delivering competitive performance with an output of 1250 hp at 2300 rpm. The M33.3 engine range, which includes 6– and 16-cylinder models features low exhaust emissions overall operating cycles. »Key features include dynamic redundancy with electronic injection for increasing safety and reliability, high efficiency ball bearing turbocharger for increasing power and fuel efficiency, integrated circuits with no flexible hoses for reducing leak points and improving durability as well as Life Cycle Cost Efficiency: Extended Mean Time Between Overhauls (MTBO) and modular design reduce the number of components and interfaces, lowering maintenance costs and improving overall efficiency.« Hall A3 | booth 305 58 HANSA – International Maritime Journal 09 | 2024
